Very strong mortar and pestle with good capacity. The pestle is easy to hold and manipulate. The main problem is that it needs to be used for some time before it stops shedding small granite particles. I bought this specifically to make tum, a Lebanese garlic spice. The mist should be almost pure white, and the first batch I did was very gray and sandy. This was done after following the cleaning and preparation instructions that came with the instrument. The second batch was better, but still grayish and a bit gritty. After about 4 batches it seemed to settle down and stop releasing particles. So keep in mind that seasoning requires some work.
