Review on ๐Ÿ“ก Smart Wireless Motion Detection Sensor by James Pfettscher

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Does the job, but there are shortcomings

The sensor works very well, detecting barely noticeable movements in a certain area. Responds in a split second. It has a bright green LED that flashes every time the sensor provides a notification. A few notes on how the sensor works: 1. It issues a motion notification in less than a second after it detects motion.2. Motion notifications will not appear if motion stops for a second. That's neither good nor bad, but it means you'll get lots of movement/no movement notifications if movement isn't constant and smooth.3. App notifications can be turned off in the SmarLife app, or you can customize the time range, but the sensor can't be turned off, meaning it's pinging the router hundreds of times throughout the day in places like living rooms. and batteries run out quickly. I placed mine as a safety device in a location where there shouldn't be traffic at night, but running during the day drains the batteries in less than a month.4. Routines from the SmartLife app execute in less than a second after the app receives input, but if you're using Alexa or the Shortcuts app in IO, expect significant delays: 2-3 seconds. I'm using it as a security device so latency isn't an issue, but if you're using it with Alexa to turn on the lights when you enter a room, the latency is enough to make you think the routine isn't working. I have a lot of 12V DC power supplies from old hard drives, so I bought a small voltage regulator that fits in the battery compartment and I don't have to mess with batteries anymore, but this solution may not work for everyone.
