Review on Freenove Hexapod Robot Kit for Raspberry Pi 4 B 3 B+ B A+: Walking, Balancing, Live Video, Face Recognition by Arun Siddiqui

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OMG - great set, great price, cool robot

There's something to tell. This kit allowed me to build the tracked robot I was looking for. This is a toy and a serious research tool in one bottle. Freenove offers a versatile and functional robot with a wide range of motion, audio range and real-time live video. It took me about 5 hours to assemble as I had never assembled it before. A digital guide is provided with some of the best illustrations I have ever seen for a learning guide. There are also several videos on YouTube that walk you through the robot building process step by step, just like the manual. It's all there. Any part of the build. In the video, the woman assembling it has a large workspace. I've included photos showing my assembly workspace. Compared to him it is very small. However, I managed to do it with little effort. I kept a small box next to the table and moved parts from the table to the box and back as needed. If you have a large workspace, you can leave everything there. You can see it assembled on my desktop. My very small desktop. With the legs folded down, it takes up the most space. I built it there, in this place. After ordering the kit I watched the assembly video and noticed the lady was using an electric screwdriver (for small screwdrivers) and I figured yes an electric screwdriver might make it easier so I ordered for about $28 . I show the box in one of the photos. Get one or the other that has at least a few small Phillips bits. You only need one bit. Another photo shows the electric screwdriver I bought for this build. Revain sells these and many more. I will write a separate review for that. The fact is that an electric screwdriver reduces assembly time and is easy on your wrist. What can this robot do? 1. It has an adjustable height.2. Moves in any direction.3. It has a movable "head" with sound sensors and a camera.4. Measures the distance from him to the object.5. Transmits video in real time.6. Has a buzzer for simple sound signals.7. It has a row of programmable colored LEDs. Communication takes place via WLAN. You start in your home with your own Wi-Fi network. In the wild, you can install it on your laptop, tablet or phone. There is a good app for Windows, Mac and Linux and one for IOS and Android phones/tablets. For me, this robot is an investigative tool. I'm thinking about using a legged robot and this option fits perfectly. It won't stand up to heavy use to test some of my ideas though, I expect it to work well. Since I built it, I will also be able to maintain it. If you need a detail, I have a list. Break something, I have a list. This is one of the advantages of self-assembly. For whom is that? Obviously an adult. An older child who can be responsible and not abuse them for another. It is unsuitable for a small child to build. Maybe operate. I leave it to you as long as the person you are buying it for fits that description. Since the programming for this is completely based on Python, changes to the supplied code are quite possible. Adding new applications is easy if you know Python. If you don't, they give you a little guide to get you started. There are many free Python tutorials on the internet. You don't need to know any code at all. Build it and use it as is. If you want to experiment, it's entirely possible. Customer service? They value that very much. If you have any questions - write to them. I didn't need them so I don't know. I guess they mean business. Something about the offering, the kit, and the quality of the parts makes me believe.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No performance
