Very funny, a bit difficult to assemble

Very funny robot. The camera needs to be focused with a tool that is not included in the kit. I found it difficult to install. The instructions may use some updates. You will find yourself putting things in the wrong place if you don't pay attention to them. I ran into an undocumented issue where the hexapod would not lift off the ground when running the test program. If you ever disconnect and reconnect the servos, you'll need to completely delete the install directory from pi and clone it…

Fantastic Maker Project - Walking Spider PC

Pro's - Very valuable and educational project. Everything worked great except for the camera. It was slow with Pi 3, but worked a bit better with 4. The software is very well written and internally documented. It would be very interesting to continue development by adding more behaviors. I use it as a second computer because how many people have a running computer with a freaky cool head and body movements. Cons - Read and follow instructions. Take your time, it will take time, so enjoy the…

Fun kit, works as advertised

Assembly is a bit awkward as with all these types of kits. Be careful when assembling the bottom plate and the battery holder as well as the head. It's not obvious which directions are top and front, but it's important. lots of extra screws and spacers. So if you drop one, don't kill yourself trying to find it. I'm deducting a star because one of my battery boxes broke, the box wasn't damaged so it was definitely packaged broken. Don't worry about the support though, a new box should be here…

Awesome robot, worth every penny

Freenove's Big Hexapod robot set is a fantastic robot. The tutorial will walk you through everything from setting up your Raspberry Pi to building and running a hexapod robot. This item is larger than I thought it would be and is a steal for the price. My advice would be to just get a Raspberry Pi 3B with built-in Wi-Fi. I installed the 8GB Raspberry Pi 4B version on it, but I'm having trouble connecting to the mobile app when it's activated. I replaced it with version 3B. A 4B with less…

Great all-purpose robot at a great price

Very helpful support. The instructions strike the right balance of readability and appropriateness, but it's helpful to be able to answer a few questions to get you started. You need to turn the power on when you connect the servos to the board, but it might be worth thinking twice before leaving it on when you connect the camera, otherwise you could turn it off. I can't believe a robot like this isn't available at this price point. A few hours of tedious screwing and connecting wires, then a…

Developed for advanced users, created for beginners. Bad combo.

Well, there's no arguing about the quality of the materials at an affordable price. Even the lowest tier of quality servo will cost you at least $20 apiece. And with 18 servos in this kit, that would be $360 before they even start developing this hexapod. So for the price of a complete kit you should expect some very inferior parts. Good job managed to get the price so low! As for assembly, the instructions were adequate. I was able to understand them and follow them right to the point of…

OMG - great set, great price, cool robot

There's something to tell. This kit allowed me to build the tracked robot I was looking for. This is a toy and a serious research tool in one bottle. Freenove offers a versatile and functional robot with a wide range of motion, audio range and real-time live video. It took me about 5 hours to assemble as I had never assembled it before. A digital guide is provided with some of the best illustrations I have ever seen for a learning guide. There are also several videos on YouTube that walk you…
