I bought the Silent Board/BLTouch a few weeks ago but wanted to wait after installing and using it before writing a review. This might be a bit of a long review but I hope it helps shed some light on the product and on F1rstLayer (the seller). Let's start from the beginning: Installation: Physically installing the board was a breeze. F1stLayer's instructions were clear. The whole process of installing a new boar took no more than 20 minutes. Make sure you have pre-printed all the parts you need for the BLTocuh (mount). The hard part. Even though one of the installation help videos claims the new board will plug in and work, my experience says otherwise. I have to admit that I'm a fairly new 3D printer enthusiast, but I'm not sure how much experience it takes to be able to screw up a plug and play device when it actually is one is plug and play. To make it work Luckily, F1rstLayer provided a second video from Teaching Tech that gave me some ideas on what to do and how to solve the problem. The solution was to flash the Marlin firmware onto the board (the board comes with a bootloader) and from that point everything was great. Attention! Flashing a board isn't difficult, but it does require some reading and preparation if you've never done it before. In my case I know some of the tools suggested in the Teaching Tech video, but in my opinion the video doesn't describe the process of preparing the firmware for the board firmware well enough. . In fact, I've found that there aren't many clear resources (at least the ones I've found) that show how easy it is to flash firmware. In the end it's worth it. Overcome the board, or if you can get a plug and play experience, finally flash the board (which I recommend), the board and the BLTouch are an "AMAZING" board. Like many of you, I have been working from home since the pandemic began in March. I have an Ender 3 Pro in the same room where my computer is and in the room where I work and video conference. Although the previous Silent Board wasn't that loud (at least I thought so), colleagues who also do 3D printing and attend some of my video conferences were able to identify the noise coming from the printer. The first printout after installing the new board amazed me. I've reduced it from around 50-60dB to 30-35dB, in fact most of the noise is now coming from the fans (which I'm about to upgrade). Put simply. THIS IS AWESOME and worth the trouble with the firmware. BLTocuh: No more manually leveling the bed. I love this thing, but as for the board, there was a little trick in the firmware to make it work. The good news is that the difficulties are solved with the same file that you use to flash the board, so everything is done in one step. Verdict. I wholeheartedly recommend this product...get it, get it now ๏F1rstLayer: The best part of the whole experience was being able to rely on the seller support. They were able to give tips and instructions on their FB page, not to mention they ship fast and support their products. This is the second item I'm buying from them and most likely every update for my Ender 3 will be bought from them.
