My kids and I decided to do this together today and I have to say the instructions didn't help at all. It meant making kites of different colors, then twisting them around each other and unrolling them. The result was a really nice color combination but unfortunately we weren't told how many pieces of clay to use so we started with 4 for my 4 year old and 5 for my 7 year old but they were too small for her hands. fit. Adding more after the initial leveling wasn't easy, and we had lost that cool swirl of color by the time we added our fourth tone. You cannot get 4 children's handprints from this set unless they are 2 years old. It comes with tools, although they don't appear to be needed for the handguards. It also says to microwave them "for a few minutes" to harden them. It didn't say how many minutes and when I googled it online I read that you can't put clay in the microwave! I ended up putting them in my regular oven at 250 for 30 minutes. They didn't end up in a bowl shape, but I'm going to use them as Christmas tree ornaments. In short, a good sound set if you're planning on just making something of your own but were hoping to create something for which it's meant to do just that, deserves 2 stars. I suggest using about 9 pieces of clay for a 7 year old hand. I hope this helps when doing this project.
