We love this cage and bought one for our 1 year old Boston Terrier twins. rod supports in their drawers. We use them as end tables for our sofa so we were determined to outsmart the puppies and I have a feeling we did! Basically, a bit of coloring solved our problems. I'm so happy with the result that I had to share! First I mixed brown metallic. and black paint to get a sheen/color near the surface of the box and used a rounded foam brush to paint the areas where the wood was exposed and chewed. My husband then bought 2 sheets of 11 x 14" plexiglass from Home Depot. , as well as 2 longer sheets for the sides and a plexiglass pick, a hand tool he uses to cut large sheets into thinner pieces for the sides of the drawers. Then he drilled Drilled holes in the corners of the plexiglass and used small 1 4" screws to attach the pieces to the front and sides of the drawers. For the sides he used screws to attach the plastic to the bars as well as for added security and to keep the cubs from ripping out the glass with their paws.!We closed the plexiglass front rails and openings completely, but left a few inches of ventilation on the sides (small enough that they don't chew through their noses and teeth We've left the back open to allow for adequate airflow.You haven't hurt your back before and (knock wood) are fine so far e damage okay! Now we're making sure they have rawhide bones or Kong toys in their drawers so they can channel their urge to chew properly! And asabonus, the Plexiglas even reduced the barking noise! It's a small additional cost and a do-it-yourself step to ensure product stays great and puppies stay safe and chip free! We love our updated devices and added some photos! 😊
