So I checked if they work for UVA or UVB by exclusion. UVA penetrates glass and plastic, while UVB does not. I tested them in bright sunlight, outside, and through a window. Dark purple outside, no reaction through the window. So they work for UVB but not for UVA. Then I checked my lamp. I have a reptisun 10.0 t5HO fluorescent bulb in a Sunblaster fixture with reflectors suspended in a mesh cover in a glass terrarium. No reaction from the outside of the aquarium, the inside is light purple about 8 inches under the light. Good. Also tested them against my friend's CFL over his turtle shell sitting on a net. Very light purple. Too little UVB. He needs a stronger UV setup. So they work fine. Recommended for reptiles.
