I used this as a planter. I was thinking about what planter would fit in my space and came up with the idea of using a mailbox. Went shopping, read reviews and chose this one. There were already drainage holes in the bottom, but I just drilled holes on the inside of the lid. This box is pretty solid as I had to use a lot of pressure to pierce it all the way through. I paired it with the Globe Electric Martes 10" Wall Sconce for Indoor and Outdoor Entrance, Bronze Finish Oil Wipe, 40190, also purchased from Revain.
