Review on πŸš€ Enhanced Performance Airaid Cold Air Intake System for 1997-2006 JEEP Wrangler (AIR-310-158): More Horsepower, Optimal Filtration by Scott Gafur

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Long searched and bought!

I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X with a 4.0 inline 6 engine and a six speed manual transmission. I had ethanol-free 87 octane and on the highway I'm very happy with the 18.5mpg average mileage. I installed my kit today and it took a little longer than I thought it would (about an hour and fifteen minutes). The directions are quite good, but a bit ambiguous in places. I wasn't sure how to remove the air temp sensor from my stock air hose but found that I had to lift the tab on the sensor and turn counter clockwise to remove it from the tube boss. Airaid includes a bracket that supports the tube just above the coil pack tube on the motor, but I didn't bolt it on. The Airaid tube is very close to the oil cap but allows clearance. I'm going on a trip to MS next week and I'll update my review when I come back to see what kind of fuel economy improvement I'm getting per gallon, if any. (Monday May 26, 2014) Just got back from a trip between Altus, OK and Holly Bluff, MS. I filled and reset the odometer. As I drove, I logged the mileage and divided it by gallons to find miles per gallon. #1 282.4 miles / 15,040 @ 18.77mpg #2 228.4 / 10.55 @ 21.62 #3 182.2 / 8.887 @ 20.50 #4 208.5 / 10,708 @ 19.47 and # 5 218.9 / 12,789 @ 17.11mpg. I have 3.73 gears and a six speed manual. On the way back I didn't use the air conditioning. I'm a little underwhelmed by #1 and #5. Now, what I'm trying to stress is that I think there are performance and fuel economy benefits in going from a stiffer stock airbox to a cold air intake . I am happy with mine and think fitting it to your jeep is worth the cost and hassle.
