Correct range finder for the average golfer

As a professional caddy on a top golf course, I use my laser range finder all the time, especially during major amateur tournaments. Thought it would be interesting to try this inexpensive range finder and see if it works well enough to be used as a backup. I also loaned it out to a few other caddies to get their opinions. Here's what we observed: PRO:1. Lightweight yet durable. Dropped a few times but still works fine.2. The optics were quite sharp and clear.3. Battery life was decent, although the rangefinder was stolen from the Caddy's car after just three months of use, so we'll never know how long the battery lasts! While the initial setup was a bit overly complicated compared to the high-end rangefinders most of us use, it was generally easy to use once the settings were good. AGAINST: 1. It took me over an hour to set up the initial setup because the manual that came with it was not well written.2. When the tilt function was on, the flag lock vibration became intermittent.3. All of us Caddy testers measured distances with our regular rangefinders and then compared the results with this instrument. We almost always found a deviation within 15-20 meters, while the rangefinder tested was inaccurate. Not much for the average golfer, although we wouldn't recommend it for professional caddy use. When switched on, the rangefinder often accidentally switched to "High Speed Mode” .5. Speaking of settings, we agree there are too many of them. CONCLUSION: If you are looking for a cheap laser rangefinder for recreational golf, this one is definitely worth considering.
