I bought this sweeper because I recently moved and now have carpet in my kitchen (horrible I know) and I didn't want mine every time Taking out the big vacuum cleaner I dropped something on the floor because I'm a clumsy. I don't have any pets so I don't know how it fares on pet fur, but I did the last test. I received a desk that I assembled in my living room, wrapped in styrofoam. There were pieces of styrofoam scattered all over the living room because that stuff breeds like rabbits. So right after assembling the pen I started collecting styrofoam - that worked great. He collected all the foam pieces without any problems. My kitchen rug is very low (quite flat, actually) and is great for picking up crumbs, shredded cheese, and anything I've dropped on the floor. I chose this sweeper after reading reviews from more expensive (Fuller Brush) and more established brands (Bissel) based on reviews. I really think this is the best with the best price.
