Review on Nylon Kitchen Knife Set (3 Piece) by StarPack - Ideal for Children, Lettuce Preparation, and Safe Kitchen Usage by April Bee

I got my 7 year old this set of knives for Christmas. She always wants to help in the kitchen and I thought she was old enough to learn how to cut vegetables and fruit with knives. We took it yesterday to try it out for the first time. Cut apples and bananas. It's clear that bananas are easier than ever, but it wasn't so easy with apples. Knives are more for sawing than chopping. She had to strain her weight to get the knife through the fruit. In fact, I put my hands on hers for extra support. The knife cut about halfway through the apple and then the apple broke the rest. So no nice knife cuts, not that that's the most important thing for a 7 year old. These are sharp knives and easy to clean. This is a plus. For the money they will, but it would be nice if at least one of the knives had a straight edge and no nicks. I had higher expectations based on the reviews and the product description. I'm not sure how good they are for fibrous veggies like potatoes when it barely rivals an apple.
