Quality straps, good ratchet

Back in the mid 1990's when cargo or ratchet straps hung from pegs in your local wall world, they were very good with thick straps and the metal used for the buckle, which is where the big one is Caliber. I've had a set that has lasted over ten years with proper care. I would have had them today if they hadn't been stolen from my truck. This is the standard by which I measure ratchet straps. Today it is impossible to find anything that would correspond to these early proposals. Manufacturers everywhere have figured out how to squeeze out the quality of ratchet straps to reduce production costs to almost zero. A rare exception is high quality belts specifically designed for road transport (cars and trucks) that are too big for my motorcycle to move. I was skeptical about ordering the straps as I couldn't see them beforehand but I was in a bind and needed to get something soon. I couldn't run around town all day comparing products. Prime's two-day delivery was a reasonable amount of time for my situation. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of these belts. The strap itself is thicker/heavier than most, not razor thin and appears to be of good quality. They are long which came in handy to fix my bike properly. With the long straps I was able to use the attachment point which was in the perfect spot but I didn't have enough room for the hook. The length of the strap allowed me to attach it around the ideal anchor point and run the strap along the wall to another spot that was far from the ideal anchor point, but where the hook attached easily. I've only used these straps once but they didn't stretch or sag and held the bike securely in place during transport. industry, this is called "wire") are strong and have a permanent shape. I secured my motorcycle in the van. The truck box had the typical wooden slats on both sides for securing/tying loads. The double wire hook used in many high quality tapes is often too wide/thick to get into hard-to-reach places. Just in case, these single wire hooks fit between the wall of the crate and the wooden board, allowing me to double up on the hook on my belt for a more secure hold. Short straps for looping around motorcycle frames/handlebars/attachment points of the same quality. They are a must have for me as wire hooks, although covered in rubber, can still gnaw and damage chrome and painted surfaces as well as dent/warp the underlying material. The straps also allow you to attach to places on the motorcycle where the hooks will not fit due to oversize or irregular shape. The ratchet mechanisms work well. If the ratchet is wrong and square it will stick and require force/pull/wiggling or a tool to loosen. Extremely frustrating and time consuming to unload. All four buckles are genuine and work as expected. The barrels (the center cylinder that the straps wrap around) are made of a decently sized material that outperforms most materials I've come across. The carrying case is made of thin material, but will last a long time if treated with care. I believe the bag is intended for storing the kit, not as a sturdy carrying case. I would expect rough handling to shorten the life of the bag but if used carefully it should work well and prevent the straps from falling out. I am very happy with these belts. So much so that I'm considering ordering a second set to keep in the truck as regular ratchet straps. The first set is kept with the bike for occasional transport. I believe this strap set would do better compared to other similar items. Rating something a person likes with five stars devalues the meaning of the "highest" rating; this is my opinion. I leave five stars for products that exceed all expectations. I wanted to give this product five stars but I couldn't. What confused me was the ratcheting mechanism. They're stamped from thicker sheet metal than most I've looked at, but they fall a little short of my standard of comparing old-school products from the mid-'90s. Whilst they are adequate, work well and I expect them to last a long time, I really wish they were made of thicker metal as it would give me the reassurance of extremely long life with the reasonable handling that the average person would have. Nevertheless, I assume that these belts will be my favorites for a long time. I would give 4.5 stars if I could.
