I needed to replace a handle with a hose nipple with a knurled handle nipple. There is only one replacement for this (old) handle and the customer reviews are bad. I decided to make my own out of a stick and nut. I silver soldered the nut to the stem after drilling a hole in the nut. Then I put a new "knob" on the hub stem and drilled a hole through the nut, stem and the other side of the stem. Mother. A nail threaded through the nut/bar and then bent secures the handle to the bar. I used less than an eighth of an inch Harris Safety Silv (with their Sta Silv flux) for this task. I didn't know about Safety Silv until I saw The Crafsman YouTube video channel (without the "t"). an episode about silver soldering (actually soldering since it requires more heat than soldering). It turns out to be a very strong connection!
