The pins are not soldered, but otherwise a great kit!

If you don't solder, don't buy this kit. You are expected to solder two rows of pins to the pico before attempting any projects. You cannot use this kit without soldering. I wasn't impressed at first when I read the ad for the Pi Pico. The world already has an Arduino, so why do we need a Pi that isn't a Pi? But after playing around with this set and learning about the Pico's specs, I was very impressed. It's a pretty impressive board and a few light years larger than the Arduino UNOs I've mostly used. After soldering the wires I was able to install Python and blink the LED... which is funny because I don't know Python. I couldn't figure out how to run the C compiler on Windows, but Python seems simple enough. You can install an executable Python interpreter on Pico and configure it to activate and run a Python script. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Pros
  • This is a basic Raspberry Pi Pico starter kit that will help you learn embedded programming, hardware and electronic circuits on your computer quickly and easily.
Cons
  • Almost everything is included
