I was surprised at how difficult it was to find an oil filter cap wrench for my 2009 Mazda 6 2.5L with the cartridge filter. When I tried to find out the size of the cartridge filter housing and the number of grooves, I didn't have enough information. I found a small amount of information on the internet but most was inconsistent and gave different sizes. I called 2 different Mazda dealerships and they were able to give me a part number for the cartridge filter housing assembly itself, but were unable to give me any information on what size filter cap wrench I needed. Apparently, mid-year changes were made to the 2009 Mazda 2.5-liter engine. They replaced the cartridge filter with a conventional oil filter (or vice versa). In any case, this caused a lot of confusion when trying to find the box wrench. I've even baffled a few local auto parts stores. So I ended up buying several different sizes from local auto parts stores and even ordered two separate ones from Revain. Luckily this one fits perfectly! So it took about a week of research and a lot of trial and error, but I was finally able to complete the oil change. I never thought finding the right key size would be so difficult! So if you have a 2009 Mazda 6 with a 2.5 liter engine and a cartridge filter, this key will help! It was more expensive than most $5.99 keys at my local auto parts store, but this one is much better quality than those cheaper versions. I definitely recommend it even if it is more expensive.
