This quick release adapter for my tripod is great for this amateur photographer. I should note that I attached it to my old (40+ year old) aluminum Velbon VGB-3C tripod and I can't say how it will work on other tripods. guy and saw no point in buying something more expensive. Do not get me wrong. I'm sure there are better (and of course more feature-rich) adapters out there, but that's about all I need. Keep in mind that this is a simple quick-change adapter, not a universal ball mount or fancy 3-axis gimbal. It doesn't fold or tip over. This prevents you from mounting the camera sideways on the tripod axis. He doesn't do any of that. At a modest price of $15.99, all you save is the hassle of screwing and unscrewing your camera to a tripod. And since the Velbon tripod already allows 3-axis movement, why buy a separate mount to do the same? It consists of two parts - one part is attached to the camera and the other part is attached to the tripod. The part that attaches to the tripod has a single (bullseye) bubble level, which is very handy, especially when you're taking a series of shots that will be stitched into a horizontal panorama. Yes, two arc-shaped spirit levels at 90 degrees to each other would be better, but that would increase costs and take up more space. The other part (camera plate) has a bolt slot so it can be mounted away from the battery/SD card compartment. Very important! The camera platform attaches very securely to the camera by just tightening the screw with your fingers. A portion of the tripod has a safety feature that prevents accidental movement of the release lever, thereby releasing the camera. This seems pretty important to me, but not all quick release adapters have this feature. Once the camera snaps onto the tripod, it seems very secure. This adapter appears to be very strong and durable - it's made of aluminum, not plastic. I don't think I'll ever need to replace it. As far as I know, it's a solid 5 stars.
