The price might seem a bit high compared to a traditional chalk pen, but it's worth it! I transfer or draw my patterns onto thick card stock or poster board and then trace them onto my fabric. This mechanical chalk pen closes the edges so quickly and accurately that I save time while sewing and get crisp lines. I have a set of chalk cartridges and now it seems so thick and chunky compared to this one lol. If you're a perfectionist this pencil is for you, it takes some getting used to on various fabrics but it works great on everything I've tested it on from muslin to spandex. It comes off easily too, just be careful what color you use as with all chalk pens. Most of the time it just rubs off, but I've found that sometimes the red needs to be washed off. So if you're going to use it on material you won't wash off, keep that in mind.
