Hope helpful tips for newbies in crimping JST.

Be careful, I'm new to crimping and may be using the wrong terminology ;-) I've found that you can successfully crimp JST-XH connectors, but you MUST be careful and VERY accurate, me I would say the tolerance is less than 0.1mm. The biggest problem I had was that if you're not careful you could damage the connector or flatten the "nub" that holds the connector in place in the JST header. The solution is to ensure that the connector is correctly inserted into the jaws of the crimping machine before crimping. Here are some tips that I hope will help and I've attached some photos. I think whether you use the 1st or 2nd set of "teeth" on the crimping machine depends more on the gauge of wire you use than whether you use it. They crimp JST or Dupont connectors. I used 24 AWG wire, so I used the 1st set of large teeth (closest to the neck of the crimping tool). I've found that before inserting the connector into the jaws of the crimping tool, moving the connector wings that hold the wire insulation so that it's closer to parallelism (instead of a V shape) makes things a bit easier. The most important thing is that the shank (see attached photos) protrudes from the opposite side of the jaws before crimping. Failure to do so will warp the connector or flatten the shank to keep it from staying in the header. Hope this helps and good luck.
