I borrowed a UV meter from a friend when they first arrived to test them. I had three bulbs, two used and one new, I compared them. The oldest bulb made no difference on the map, another used bulb changed the sun's opacity slightly, and the new bulb made the most noticeable difference. A test of the UV-B meter confirmed these results: the first lamp did not transmit UV-B at all, the second emitted less UV-B and the performance of the new lamp was high. I would still recommend anyone who uses UV lamps on their animals for a few hours a day to meet with them so you can change them every six months, but these cards will definitely let you know if UVB -Radiation is present extent, how much UVB is emitted. The photos show the difference in appearance of a new bulb compared to a bulb that has been in use for several months.
