Review on πŸ“¦ Efficient Aluminum Can Compactor: The Crusher by Pacific Precision Metals in White Finish by Aurora Lowe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent unit, much better after a few mods

I read the reviews and decided to make some of the mods suggested and use an alternative mounting method. We are very satisfied with the device and it has paid for itself several times in a very short time. First I reinforced the two pivots with washers, nuts and bolts. A reviewer's hinge fell apart, mine will never happen. The rest fall apart first. Second, I used a Knipex pliers wrench to make a slight upward curve or "edge" to the front edge of the platform where the cans will be crushed. A slight bend prevents the cans from falling out of the crusher. I can always bend it a little more, but for now that slight bend solved the problem. Someone suggested attaching the crusher to a board so it could be stowed under the sofa. I attached mine to the chalkboard but chose to do this instead of attaching it to the table leg. I cut the screws used to attach the breaker to the board so they don't stick out on the back. They will not scratch the table leg or the floor when used horizontally. I used three "zip ties" to attach the board to the table leg. The board is long enough, it lays on the ground and blasts the equipment. The straps only hold the board to the table leg and are not intended to counteract the compressive force. I can easily cut the zip ties and put the device anywhere. It would probably be easy to attach the board to a table, door, cabinet or whatever. Works perfectly. EDIT: I used Qtip to apply some Slideez lube to where the metal grinder slides into the device. Breakers are now much softer. Where you see signs of wear, simply apply some Slideez. This is great material. You'll also want this for your plastic fridge/freezer drawers and any other drawers that pull.

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • Not sure
