I tried to use these to disassemble my stem which is 4th generation pliers for snap rings. I saw good reviews of these pliers, knew the Stanley name and thought they were high quality, but I was hugely mistaken. The mechanism that locks the interchangeable heads onto the pliers is very weak and spring loaded. If you try to use these pliers under moderate to heavy pressure, they will bend in a way that can startle you and potentially become dangerous. Replaceable heads move very weakly on tongs, do not inspire confidence. If you remove the locking rings before you know they are under significant tension when removing them, and if the pliers lose them, they will snap back into shape and fly away, potentially hitting and injuring someone. Not only were the heads of the pliers unstable, but the metal was of such poor quality that when I attempted to use them to remove the locking rings, two of the prongs were BENT APART ON THE VERTICAL AXIS. Designed to either close or open horizontally, they flex as if you're stretching your arm straight and wiggling your fingers up and down, which is extremely dangerous with such high tension. I couldn't keep servicing my bar for fear it would break and hurt me. I have requested a refund and hopefully others will see this and stay away. Spend a few bucks more and get some quality fixed head pliers.
