Review on Belkin 7 Outlet SurgeMaster Protector F9H710 06 by Jorge Maertz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Provides power but doesn't keep kids away

This power panel provides power. I can't test surge protection. It's a bit big, which is both a good and bad thing. There's a bit more space between the sockets than on smaller power supplies, but it's very wide. I've attached a photo of this unit and the power supply it replaces. This product loses 2 stars because it is advertised as safe "especially for children" but the child protective covers are woefully inadequate. The first thing my 3 year old did after opening the box was opening and closing all the lids. There is virtually no friction between the covers and the powerbar. If your child can flip the switches on Fischer Price toys, they can open those little lids. They are useful for stopping dust, but not for children. Masking tape over a regular power rod provides better protection.

Pros
  • Surgemaster 7 outlet unit, $75,000, 6ft cord
Cons
  • So far so good
