This is more than just a reference tag to find the function of each GPIO pin. By twinning and twisting the ends of the wires (and a little practice on non-critical objects :) you can solder them into tiny holes, allowing you to "duplicate" the GPIO and move the board to another area in the Raspberry case, for Example. for a fan or a small uninterruptible power supply (UPS) on batteries, without GPIO blocking on the Raspberry board. For the price, there's no harm in trying it out if you're familiar with flimsy wires inside the casing of small devices - but if you weren't, you wouldn't be messing around with the Rasp Pi at all, would you? :-)
