What can I say, they are cheap, easy to install (nearest outlet) and they are one of the few detectors that are triggered by natural gas which carbon dioxide detectors cannot detect. Only downside, since they plug straight into the socket without a cable, it blocks the entire socket. It also loses some of its effectiveness as most outlets are near the floor and natural gas tends to rise to the ceiling first. However, I'm pretty sure it will explode if there is a dangerous gas leak. What I've learned the hard way (thankfully it didn't go BOOM) is that carbon dioxide detectors can't detect.
