The lens is sharp enough for my purposes. It's a bit difficult for me to use the thumbnail on my Sony a5000 as this body doesn't have a viewfinder. Just a live view screen. So I end up trying to compose or track a narrow field of view by holding the a5000 away from my face with my head tilted back so I can see through the bottom half of my bifocals. I may need to upgrade the Sony body to the a6000 to really appreciate the lens. Edit: I recently bought a Sony a6000 body and attached this lens for a photoshoot with a dog in a nearby park in golden light. Here's my favorite with the Sony 55-210 zoomed out with manual focus through the a6000 viewfinder. Wonderful colors and more than acceptable overall image quality. I can crop the frame to adjust the composition a bit, but the dog's owner loved it.
