Review on Large West Chester IRONCAT 6100 Metal Tamer TIG Welding Gloves - 1 Pair, Fire Resistant Silicone Coated Palm Knit Material. Enhance Welder Safety and Protection by John Faxon

Suitable for material processing, not for welding.

I am a full time welder and after cutting a pair of TIG welding gloves from a piece of sheet metal I decided to give them a try. Firstly, if you want to buy them, please buy one size larger than what you usually wear. As for using it for welding, I would look elsewhere. They are bulky which makes it very difficult to feed the wire. In addition, the coating gives them excellent grip, which also makes it difficult to feed the wire. Also, unlike leather gloves, the coating keeps you warm, and I had to peel them off a couple of times because they were so hot. With my other gloves, when my fingertips get hot from the last bit of the bar, they never get hot enough, and I don't feel warm even after the arc goes out like I did when wearing these. The gloves are comfortable and have really great grip. I definitely recommend them for material handling but not for welding.
