Review on πŸͺ¨ Flourite Dark by Seachem by Holly Rivera

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent substrate. i love color

I love the Flourite Dark color it gives a natural look to the aquarium. Under bright aquarium lighting, Flourite Dark is the color of Hershey's milk chocolate. The pieces of substrate are uneven and rough and seem to grip the plants better. I had absolutely no problems with cloudiness. The attached picture was taken 30 minutes after replacing my old gravel substrate with Flourite Dark and putting back all the rocks, driftwood and plants. I took the advice of one of the reviewers, K. Anderson, and flushed Flourite Dark in paint filter bags. Here's what I did: 1. Pour half a 7kg bag into a 5 gallon paint filter bag.2. Place the color filter bag on a plastic outdoor chair with a slotted seat.3. Use a garden hose to soak Flourite in a color filter. Fine silt/dirt/dust flowed out of the bag into the slits of the chair. The fluorite stayed in the bag.4. After about 10 minutes the water will become clear.5. Particles ranging in size from coarse sand to about 1/4 inch chunks remain in the mesh bag.6. OPTIONAL: I chose to remove large sand particles. So I poured the cleaned fluorite into a 1/8 inch strainer pan and rinsed again. This effectively removed large sand particles. In the process described above, I had no turbidity. Even with disturbed subsoil (for the introduction of stones, tree stumps and plants) no turbidity was observed.
