Well I was able to get this to work fairly well on a 2002 Mustang GT 4.6 Sohc. Due to the tightness around the filter in the engine, it is difficult to judge the tool itself. Basically it worked and looks like it's working again so I'm happy enough. You can tilt the handle about 45 degrees away from the hinge mount, which is a big plus in my case. (Of course, after I bought it and used it, I found that I had a ratcheting universal tool for the same thing in my standard (non-metric) socket tool box. Sigh. Well, maybe too many oil filter tools... No, it always is good to have another one on hand right...as long as the person knows you have them right?)
