I needed a new centerlock adapter to replace an aluminum Bontrager I unbolted after probably replacing my third rotor (I ride 20-40 miles a day to work). They didn't loosen from cross-threads, at least that's what I've found, but simply from too many removal/installation cycles with a calibrated torque wrench (for the final tightening step after manual threading). Before I got to 40nM, the resistance just went down to zero. When removing, small pieces of thread came out. I was concerned these were Shimano hub dynamo parts, but they weren't magnetic and definitely had an aluminum feel. That's the foreword, the Shimano Centerlock adapter works perfectly. It comes with six screws that are pre-locked and ready to use. I installed it normally with a torque wrench. The lock nut section was easy to start by hand but you will need the appropriate adapter to complete the tightening. If I'm wrong I'll correct that but I'm pretty sure I used Park Tool BBT-49 now the model is 49.2 Park Tool Bottom Bracket Tool BBT-49.2 Black 39mm Bottom Bracket Tool along with 3/8"Torque wrenches like this Tekton I also use TEKTON 24330 3/8" Click Torque Wrench (10-80 ft.-lb./13.6-108.5 Nm). The big plus is that it's steel, so I don't expect any issues with thread damage. If you need a new adapter I recommend this genuine Shimano part.
