This is the perfect tool for beginners and advanced coffee lovers. a portion of water is ideal for almost any vessel when using the pouring method. I was very skeptical about the size and quality of this item as most similar items on the internet are overpriced and don't have any. as well as its structural integrity. Sure, the convenience of a thermometer is great, but its needle-like protrusion is something to keep in mind when cleaning and after cleaning. But at $16 it was the best investment in my coffee making process. I will buy another one to replace if my current one breaks. (I clean it with ease, but I soak goosenecks in low water mixed with vinegar for a few hours and rub down with straw cleaner.) But that's just me, to each his own.
