I first heard about these binoculars while looking online for a pair under $500 for a Christmas present. Everything I have read or seen has found them to be the most beneficial for your category. I kept reading that they would perform as well or better than binoculars that cost $100-$200 more. When the binoculars arrived I compared them to the Celestron Nature DX 8x42, Athlon Midas 8x42, Carson 3d ED 8x42 and Zeiss Terra ED 8x42. For comparison, four family members and I looked through each pair of binoculars and rated them on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being the best). Then, when each person looked through all five binoculars, they rated each binocular in order of 1 to 5. Not very scientific, but I just wanted their opinions on each one based on feel, ease of use, and ability to see objects from 50 to 400 meters to see, classify. Right from the start of the comparison, I was impressed by how light and comfortable the Sightron scopes were, and was completely blown away by the fact that a $175 binocular could have such a wide field of view and such a clear image. They may not have the edges you find in more expensive binoculars, but the Sightron's edges were just as good, or in some cases better than what I used for comparison. In the end, the Sightrons were in the top 2 of them all. But when the cost was added, they all moved up to the number 1 position because no one thought other better looking binoculars had looks worth the extra money.
