Easy install with just a drill//BOARDS QUESTION ANSWERED WITH PHOTO

UPDATED FOR BOARDS QUESTION: Technically yes you can install this with a baseboard but be careful. The bottom bracket is approximately 3 inches high and requires a flat surface to mount. (See Quarter Round in addition to your skirting board) You can install it on top of the skirting board. In my photo my base isn't high enough to provide a completely flat mounting surface AND I have a quarter round there that also needs to either be trimmed so the bracket is flush with the ground or you need to mount the gate over the sign (I do not recommend the second option). Step up and down the gate and screw it in and out to allow some slack and snap in the fasteners for easy removal. I'm not 100% sure how long they are. I think they're long enough to accommodate the difference in thickness that the baseboard portion of the baseboard will create, since the top bracket does NOT "position" it away from the wall (I suppose you can put a small piece of wood between this bracket lay to mimic the thickness of the skirting board). As long as the baseboard is flat, flush with the floor (i.e. not a quarter circle) and at least 3 inches high for the sled to be securely installed, this is possible. I would NOT install gates. higher to get past the baseboard as there is a support bar under the gate which is then a few inches off the ground and a MAJOR trip hazard You will need something large through the hole again. I can open it with one hand but expect to try a few times before you get it right. I'm only 5ft 4 and can tiptoe through the gate but my toddler can't get through in case my hands are full and I can't open the gate.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
