Review on Effortlessly Remove Popcorn Ceiling with 🍿 MAX Strip Popcorn Ceiling Remover 1 Gallon by Phil Anderson

GOOD PRODUCT! (But have a water pump handy)

I started with a large kitchen in a 31 year old house that was built in 1989 during the ceiling popcorn heyday. I used a fluffy 6" applicator roller and kept the plastic spreader pan just below the roller catcher as I rolled it up (and dripping if you want to apply a thick coat as recommended). I used 1 mil thick plastic to cover the blanket as they recommend to keep the product from drying out. I used thumbtacks to hold it in place and then used a broom to push the plastic against the ceiling. It activated after an hour but we left it on for 4-6 hours. I've tried all sorts of scrapers, but I liked the sharp-edged 6-inch spatula better and the rectangular washtub that was held underneath to pick up most of the mess. Be sure to put plastic on all floors before you start cleaning, even if you plan on collecting litter in a bucket like I did. Scraped popcorn makes a mess and wet chunks stick to the floor. I used a pump sprayer to spray water on the remaining "glue" mass and wiped it off with a large sponge. This allowed me to scrape off most of it to throw in the trash. What remains on the ceiling is washed off with a sponge. We're going to be sanding this ceiling since some of the precoat was scraped off but didn't damage the drywall. I also used it on the newly painted smaller lobby ceiling. I scraped after 4 hours. It was a little harder to get rid of and left a lot more of a mark. But by wetting the residue on the ceiling with a spray bottle, I was able to easily scrape off the residue and then wipe it off with a sponge. Looks great, no need to level the ceiling. Just ordered 4 more bottles to make 5 more rooms. A few hundred dollars and a lot of sweat is definitely cheaper than replacing all the blankets!
