They're easy to put on and take off so no big deal
I have a 29er mountain bike and the Thule kickstand isn't long enough for the big wheels. These little end caps slowly break and eventually fall off because the mountain bike is always putting pressure on them. So I have to buy a new one every 6 months or so to replace the one that fell off. They're easy to put on and take off, so that's not a big issue, but it would be nice if they didn't tear and fall off.
