Review on πŸ”₯ The Bracketeer Car Fire Extinguisher Bracket: Universal Design for Most Vehicles with 20,000 Units Sold! by Mark Harris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable and flexible installation, but creativity may be required (2021 Subaru Outback)

than five stars, but I haven't seen a similar product that works as well and the end result is excellent, so it's five Stars What I want to tell you: 1. RELIABLE INSTALLATION IS REALLY IMPORTANT. I had a 2.5# Amerex Halotron securely mounted under the driver's seat. My setup is basically bulletproof, but I had to change the setup. A reliable installation is very important in my opinion, even more important than fast access. High G-force accidents (collision, rollover, etc.) are much, much more common than vehicle fires. You do NOT want the fire extinguisher to become a projectile in an accident. Modern cars are very good at protecting occupants from injury - the night before, a flying small fire extinguisher can kill someone if they hit their head. Five stars for a secure mount, no question, although I had to change the setup on my 2021 Subaru Outback Touring XT (see below). HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS / GOOD DESIGN. It's also five stars. At least for a smaller fire extinguisher, it is explosion-proof when properly installed. The 2.5# range fire extinguisher is great. With a very safe installation, you can safely install the 5# fire extinguisher. The materials here are of good quality. The various parts of the bracket are made of high-quality, powder-coated steel. The holes are positioned exactly and cut correctly. Stainless steel fasteners (additional credit for that). Maybe we should take these things for granted, but there's a lot of junk out there. The same applies to the design. It's simple, flexible, durable and safe when installed properly. One area where the flexibility of this design made a difference was in the horizontal placement of the fire extinguisher. You can set it up so that the unit's head is either in or out, and you can move the center of the mount left or right to free up the seat mounts/rails or reduce the chance of your feet getting caught when you sit on the board or get off. This is a big plus.3. CREATIVITY MAY BE REQUIRED. The two installation methods outlined in the instructions (which I find fairly clear and detailed) will likely work for most vehicles. They wouldn't work reliably on my car. The front seat rails are shaped in such a way that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get a solid fit, and the plastic trim around the seat rails makes installation difficult unless you want to rip off the trim around the seat rails. It would probably be a rational and minimally visually disturbing choice, but I wanted something a little more polished. What I did is very easy to describe. In real life, working up front/half under the driver's seat slowed things down. Basically I replaced the set screw that attaches to the seat rails to clamp the bracket with socket head screws that thread through the existing threaded holes in the clamps into new holes that I drilled and tapped on the inside of the seat rails. Easy to describe. Getting the holes right, drilling them very deep into the rails and driving in a tap (M6 x 1.0) to thread in the new seat rail holes took longer than you thought and getting the side clips. A tight fit to the seat rails when both parts are bolted together requires care and attention. I'm still giving five stars here, but if your car is probably one of the few that doesn't work very easily with a universal install, you need to use some ingenuity and care. But the other mounts I've looked at don't look like they'll let me get creative with a secure mount, which is why I'm giving this five stars. If you expect something like this to fit in every vehicle ever built and install securely in five minutes or less, you probably give it less stars. OPTIONAL NOTES. Note that depending on the setup, there may be issues with the seat adjustment. I installed mine very close to the front/bottom of the driver's seat. I'm tall and the seat is almost entirely at the back of the adjustment range. Therefore, someone short enough (which most people are) will not be able to adjust the seat to move it forward without removing the extinguisher and bracket. And if so, unless you have a sedan with a closed trunk, where are you going to put the rocket fire extinguisher? - The instructions recommend using blue Loctite (242) thread lock or equivalent. That seems like a good idea. You don't want the various fasteners to loosen due to vibration. I spent quite a bit of time looking for the dropped fasteners because they rolled under the seat and then into the space under the inner floor panel and undertray. external floor pan. I could save a lot of time by tucking a t-shirt or towel under the seat to stop it.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • There are doubts
