Rokinon Rocks with their first RF lens

I am a professional real estate photographer and have previously used a Canon EF 17-40mm F/4 L or Sigma 12-24mm F/4 ART because of their width. The problem with both of these lenses is that they are heavy, the Canon was lighter than the Sigma but not as wide either. I often have to photograph the back of houses with very short backyards. In these cases I had to use this much heavier Sigma lens for the much wider 12mm end of its zoom range. I bought a new Canon EOS R in February this year and I really liked this camera and I was able to use both previous lenses. with an EF-RF adapter, but that added even more weight. Then came Samyang/Rokinon with a promise to be the first third-party company to make RF mount lenses. I bought the Rokinon MF 14mm F/2.8 RF when it went on sale and have NEVER regretted it! This lens is very high quality in construction and weather protection and is significantly lighter than all my EF mount lenses for both this job and landscape photography. This is a MANUAL ONLY lens, but as someone who started shooting during the cinema days, I'm not intimidated by a manual-only lens, and as the EOS R has a focus peaking feature to limit manual focus support, this is not a problem. The images I get with this lens are fantastic, it's very sharp and the colors are beautiful. By eliminating the heavier lenses and adapter my hands feel more comfortable with this setup than other setups all day and I can shoot very far. I know it's 2mm narrower than the Sigma, but its 14mm focal length makes it perfect for tall buildings with very short backyards, allowing me to get everything in frame! Mechanical aperture rings remind me of the old days with big manual mechanical lenses and I love using them for this job every day and my clients love the results too! Nice win!
