Live in 120 year old home which had copper tubing. Put in new shower this year and water company called and said we were using about 10 gallons of water hourly throughout the day . I checked all outlets, toilet etc and found no leaks. Stumped so crawled in crawl space and found about 5 holes in PEX tubing to shower. Plumber came and cut out leaking piece and said new PEX was made with soy bean based plastic and he has seen problem with mice eating pipes. We have put out traps for the past 18 yrs and have not caught or seen a mouse in that time. Plumber told us area has problem with copper pipe so he did not want to replumb the plumbing. I put in new mouse traps , electronic pest repellers and wrapped the PEX with this tape. Will report next year. Kept old piece of PEXTubing and showed it to ag agent who said "yep, mice”.Update:It is three years since I covered my PEX water pipes with the tape and I crawled in the crawl space and there are no leaks or gnaw marks on the tape. As I mentioned, I did put in three electronic mouse repellers and they still appear working .Three years ago I did use the tape to cover joints in a plastic shed that leaked slightly and it has held and is still stopping the leaks.I highly recommend this tape for DIY ers.
