I have a laptop that I want to connect to a PC to a TV via a non-HDMI interface. Unfortunately, the AV cable I bought for this purpose has a stereo audio section that's a little short to get to without stretching the cable, from the top left where the video connector is to the bottom right where the video connector is headphone/line-out connector. So I needed a SHORT extension cord. That's pretty much the length I need. I also wanted the cable to go back from the PC and not to the side, so the rectangular element was definitely a "want". Now I've read two very, very negative reviews of this cable and I have to admit that I'm stunned by both. I'm not saying they aren't "correct" from an author's point of view. but they are not very helpful. The first purely sarcastic review must be of a rare "faulty" part, or misuse of the cable. It's not exactly rocket science, kids. A stereo jack at both ends and a short cable, and of course the internal interfaces between the cable and the jack connector. The connectors are gold plated as advertised. Thus, oxidation and a possible increase in terminal resistance should not be a problem. The conductivity of each individual conductor in the cable is excellent. My meter reads "zero" as the resistance. And of course, using this cable does not affect the sound quality in any way, whether it's my iHome speakers, my headphones, or a high quality sound system in my home theater. So I think it's entirely possible that the first reviewer received a defective item with a bad cable or bad soldering in one of the two connector assemblies. Of course, this is not a reference to the entire party. As I said, I bought two of these and they are completely "audio transparent". There is no change in the output tone of the devices I have used them with. NOBODY. And, for the record, before anyone gets sarcastic. I'm not deaf either! It is very likely that the first reviewer got a bad product. Luckily, Revain has a great return/replacement policy so all he had to do was ask and he'd get a replacement. And the chances that a replacement would be just as bad are vanishingly small. (I've occasionally come across a bad cable, such as a Triplite eSata cable. And it's a sad fact that the occasional bad cell slips through greatly reduced quality control processes on these mass-produced, low-cost cells. It's just one Question of practicality Replacing defective products (in unrelated applications) with safety products) in the field is cheaper than their production and full quality control before shipment. Sad, but that's the way the world works, because nowadays for the most part. Now the second even worse is the hostile rating. The "reviewer" isn't even directly criticizing the cable. He says he didn't even need to test it, and it's clear he never did. What good is a negative review that makes it clear that the reviewer has no experience with the product and no real info to share? To be honest this is a decent quality, slightly overpriced but fairly reliable cable that suits my needs perfectly and I am completely satisfied, something like this I recommend , buy one of these, no reservations If you are unfortunate enough to receive a rare defective item, simply report it to Revain and you will receive a new replacement part as soon as possible, so you risk nothing either way.
