I had never owned a robot vacuum before I bought this one a week ago. I hesitated for at least 3 years before taking the plunge to read any of the horror stories I've heard about things going wrong and robot vacuums in general (regardless of the brand) damaging furniture, floors and baseboards. Here are my thoughts. I've done my research and this navigation system has to be one of the best. Ordinary people, and here's why. NEGATIVES: 1) This can work well with a ZIGZAG pattern and be in someone's apartment or a fully OPEN FLOOR PLAN as all the people who write reviews on this stuff have or show ads, but for the average homeowner who is more than 3 has stools in his house and lives in a small area with an interior wall. it's out of his league. 2) I live in a two story house but I only bought it to clean my bottom floor, about 1200 square feet. However, when he drew up the floorplan for my house, he said that my ground floor was over 2,000 square feet. feet, which makes no sense. 3) He designed the layout of my house pretty well BUT he divided the 4 rooms of my ground floor into 8. For example, he shared my room. Rectangular training room with an area of 200 square meters. Feet for 2 rooms = doesn't make sense. Which brings me to point 4.4) The app you download WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE THE SCHEDULE APPLIED, so you can merge or change the rooms to make it make sense. So the "clean roomβ feature becomes pointless, especially when it combines half of my kitchen with my common room. I have two rugs and a 200 square foot medium pile rug in my exercise room which means the rest of my floors are hardwood or tile and it shouldn't have killed the battery as the STANDARD MODE would within 120 minutes on a full charge should work. 6) The robot claims to have striking technology and excellent maneuverability. However, it scraped the paint off my baseboard trim in several places and scratched the metal surface of my fireplace insert. 7) Because the radar adds an extra 3/4 inch at the top, the robot thinks it can get under certain furniture, but then crashes into it because it hits the laser radar from above. 8) Customer service is non-existent for people living in North America. There is no real phone number to call and when I emailed several times I never got a reply to my questions. 9) I can't say anything negative about the swipe function as I haven't even tried using it, but other reviewers said it didn't mean anything. Special.10) When I selected "Area Clean" in the app, it had trouble hitting the area and was missing clean big chunks of debris when I sat and watched. 11) I think the side brush is in a bad place. Watching the robot like clockwork as it drives forward to clear turns, the brush should be at 3 o'clock. Depending on how he's cleaning and where the brush is now, he's having a harder time getting to the edges without hitting trim, furniture legs or corners because the brush is farther away than necessary. (Major design flaw) although I'm not sure if other brands' brush is in the same place. (As a side note) You should make these things square, as more and more people are having homes with 45, 90, and 22.5 degree corners, rather than live or round edges. If they made it square and put the side brush on opposite corners, cleaning corners and around other items on the floor would solve the problem. Docking station for charging. It also "snagged" a few times on a 1-inch round support rod that lay flat on the floor for a piece of furniture. POSITIVES: 1) For what it is, it collects a ton of junk. I vacuum downstairs at least once a week and live in a pet free home with minimal traffic, but this robot picked up a ton of extra stuff and I had to empty the dust box twice during the first 3+ hours of planning/cleaning. .2) It was fun to watch and play around with for a bit, but for the price this shouldn't be new and should actually navigate and work unaided. Having said all that and I hope you took the time to read this if you are thinking of buying this robot I don't know if it's just a 'custom' brand or if all brands with these problems are like this, but I wouldn't advise buying it now and putting it aside for a few years to see if it keeps getting cheaper and better.
