Not suitable for cats

Let me start by saying that by no means was this our first choice, it was our last resort. Our cats have a lot to scratch, but one in particular insists on our chairs, has punched holes in several window grilles and dug a hole in the drywall next to her tray. We've tried scolding, bottle spraying, super soaking, cat capping, etc. We really hoped this would work for us. The problem cat did not respond to the beep, barely any vibration after the first time, and no shock of any magnitude at all. Before you swear at how inhuman it is, it's just a 1-9 controlled static shock. I even tried it on myself first because I love my cat and don't want to hurt him. His fur is short, but the collar did not seem to penetrate deep enough to make contact with the skin, even though long contact pins were attached and the collar was pulled relatively taut. Unfortunately we will come back as it is inefficient and useless for us.
