Review on Buon Vino Mini Jet Filter by Jennifer Rogers

Not for me Suitable for wine filters

Let me start by saying that I have been using filters in the paint industry for over 11 years. I have filtered fine solvents, paints, pastes and waste/old paints. I have also owned an exotic freshwater/marine fish pet shop for 4 years that filters MANY different types of aquarium, pond and pool. NEVER in my life have I dealt with such a badly designed filter! It is not possible to get a complete seal to keep the product in the filter. It IS INTENDED to flow down the sides into the drip tray and hose to your bottle. Part of the liquid exits the main supply line, the rest flows off to the side2. This ingenious leakage idea makes it considerably more difficult to keep the work area clean. Anything can get into the drip tray when filtering, there is no guarantee you won't get dirty unless your entire room is free of dust, dander, pet hair or human hair.3. The filter is working as intended until it suddenly becomes clogged and sprays alcohol everywhere. FOUR times mead was strewn on the table and floor. I made plain mead with no additives. Water, honey, yeast, that's all. I fermented in FastFerment with yeast isolated at the bottom of the bottle. I ALSO refilled it twice and it still wasn't enough to get 3+ gallons through the largest micron filter pads.5. The description of the pad change is misleading. The packaging states that you will receive 3 filter pads. true, but the machine picks up ALL three in one go! Therefore, when calculating the cost, be sure to include the price of TWO sets of each size in microns per lot. In fact it's not even accurate because I used up two sets of filters, also I had to keep rinsing them with water because they clog up very quickly and I ran out. Changing filters isn't the hardest thing in the world, but you have to change three of them instead of just one like a regular filter. And if your screws aren't tight enough. spray more7. On the last pass with the last filter, the back plate started leaking all over the floor. Finally, just buy a $25 in-line water filter that accepts tubular cartridges. You can go from 100 microns to 1 micron (for yeast removal) for about $4 per cartridge, and one cartridge lasts 50 gallons or more. To pump liquid, just buy a basic $25 12V water pressure diaphragm pump. First let out some vinegar, then some diluted Starsan, leave to dry. The only downside is you can lose 8-12 ounces of liquid with the built in filter, but it will be a lot easier.
