Ok, you may need to calibrate it with boiling water to get the most accurate results and this requires some fiddling with the instruments while the thermometer is on hot. But unlike most other food thermometers on the market today, this thermometer can be safely inserted into meat while it's being cooked in the oven. There are no plastic parts to melt. Simply insert it so that you can see the thermometer reading through the oven window when you switch on the oven light. There's no need to take the dish out of the oven and poke a few holes in the food as you're repeatedly checking for the right "done" temperature. The front of the thermometer is very easy to read and very well labeled. Unlike other devices I've used, the sensor responds very quickly to food temperature, reaching the final temperature in just a few seconds.
