The upper on the inside of both shoes has a stitched area that is pressed into the toe. Too narrow for my medium sized foot. There is no tongue that cannot be undone by untying the laces on the boots. I was at work and in so much pain I had to cut off the toe of my boot so it would stretch and not be so tight. It was terrible. If I hadn't cut them I might have sent them back. I threw them away at night.
