Review on Cyber Acoustics AC-851B USB Stereo Headset: Immersive Audio Experience by Reed Nuttbrock

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cyber Acoustics, Microsoft LifeChat and Logitech ClearChat (USB only)

I bought these USB stereo headsets in 2012 and use them occasionally. I have to say that since I first got them I wasn't expecting much. But over the years of occasional use, they've proven themselves to be pretty good. I prefer simple USB-based stereo headsets (with a long cable) for consoles and PCs to wireless networks. Here's what I have: 1) Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390 (Works on PS3, PS4, Mac and PC) Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390 (Black) 2) Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset (Works on PS3 and PS4; there were issues with the Mac version of Vent) Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset 3) Cyber Acoustics USB Stereo Headset AC-851B (works on PS3/PS4) Cyber Acoustics Stereo USB Headset (AC-851B ) The reason I listed Logitech first is because they are awesome! They work on EVERYTHING! No problems with synchronization, sound quality, volume or operation. And they work great! So I can recommend them to everyone; PC/Mac, PS3, PS4 tested. Not sure about 360 or XBox One. The reason I put the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 in second place is because I like the closed-back headphones and gooseneck mic. I had problems with Vent playing online games on PC and Mac with poor sound quality. Therefore, I do not recommend them for all applications. But I can confirm that they work great on PS3 and PS4. I use the Cyber Acoustic AC-851 the least. But when I used them on my PS4 or Mac/PC they worked great and they also liked the gooseneck mic. I simply prefer the closed ear pad (which is used in Microsoft LifeChat) to the open ear pad. Keep in mind that this smaller list of USB headsets aren't the most comfortable, and they don't have the best sound quality. For these, I recommend the Logitech G930, the Logitech G930 wireless gaming headset with 7.1 surround sound. But these headphones are wireless and will not work with volume on PS3 or PS4. The console audio slider on the G930 does not work on PS3/PS4 and the controls on the side of the headset do not work. However, they work great on PC/Mac! Just because Cyber Acoustics are the least used and last on the list doesn't mean I rate them as average. Logitech ClearChat, Microsoft LifeChat, and USB headset Cyber Acoustics even scored 8 out of 10 for a variety of reasons. They are all very good for different uses depending on your needs if you prefer the simple USB headset style.
