This had a few major issues which could be due to poor quality control during the restoration process. Problem #1: I could sometimes hear things rolling. That something will be the round black insulator shown in the photo. Specifically, this unit turned out to be superfluous in this case. It's no better here. It probably passed the first quality check because it was hidden in a block and only moved at a later date. After taking it apart to find the above problem, I also noticed that the brush holder was broken. He hardly worked. It had to be destroyed in the restoration process. I replaced it with one from my old alternator. The brush springs were also mismatched. Again, I used the ones my donor had to fix this problem. I think mismatched springs would be fine, but I'd prefer them to be the same. The fan was also bent, although it worked. Now something good. The rectifier unit was new and properly installed. The equipment also seemed new or at least well restored. This was the 55 amp version as suggested for that part number. The thing was good. Bearings are good and correctly mounted. And the best thing is that it is now charging and working well after fixing the above issues. I hope it passed quality control and your results will be better.
