Resin teeth for spare parts

Easy to install and good value for money. I'm not sure about the durability of the polymer teeth that mesh with the metal teeth. Holds up well so far, but is a little worn.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Clarity

Worked for 3 weeks - starter

Took 3 weeks and only started the mower twice. Driven today, engine won't start. Maybe I just got a badly repaired one? I don't want to risk others. I will buy one locally.

Amazing quality, price and products

I have one of these starters on my Troy Bilt pony and it works great, I also put one on my Murray. I also have an electric DB generator for my 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer and it works great, great company, great prices, great product. I want a t-shirt so I can represent your company and some stickers.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Mostly fine but...

Plastic sprocket failed Motor failed after two months

This is a crappy low quality starter. After a few twists on initial installation, the plastic sprocket fell apart. I then replaced the failed OEM starter gear, now it has failed completely. Buying a factory starter for an old mower is impossible, buying a crappy starter is impossible as well. No solution at all.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Very expensive

Cheap starter gear

The gear broke on the 3rd start. These are cheap hard plastic gears that are not chamfered at the top. So if they turn on and don't line up, they'll hit the flywheel gear and break the hard plastic gear in half. I bought Briggs & Stratton gear. This is a fiber plastic gear that is chamfered at the top so it doesn't hit the underside of the flywheel gear when meshing.

Cons
  • So-so

Wrong item sent. Recall for dealer not part

Ordered this starter for my John Deere LA140. However, I was sent a different starter with a bracket and gearbox that does not fit my lawnmower. The packaging indicates this is the correct part but as you can see from the photos there is clearly another item in the packaging. Crate. I can't get this product to work with my lawn mower and now I've been on the road for another week trying to get the right part. So I have no idea if the product will work as intended as I can't fit it into my mower

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Secret

Installs and works

The original starter only lasted about 2 years before having problems. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward. I also had to remove the case, disconnect the cables, remove them and reinstall with a new one. The spacer was not needed. If I had anything to complain about with this starter, I would complain to JD about the silly design of placing one of the mounting bolts slightly behind the starter housing. It will seem how long it lasts. Note that if you have not already removed the…

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for elderly

Worked as advertised

Bought this starter to replace my Toro 8-25 lawn tractor mid to late 90's. Was able to find the parts list on the Toro website and enter the Toro part number into Revain. The description said this was a direct replacement for a Toro (Briggs and Stratton) part. I had doubts, but to my surprise, after removing the old starter, it immediately turned. After reassembling the parts I removed for installation, I pushed the button and the starter engaged and the engine started immediately. The starter…

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Don't really like it, everything is fine

Cheap and poorly designed

On the other hand, this product is relatively inexpensive considering the number of times I've successfully started the mower with it, the cost per use is in the single digits. On the other hand, the development of this product is complete crap. It is clear that the gear on the starter must be weaker than the teeth on the flywheel itself in order for the starter not to destroy the much more expensive part. But the combination of a flimsy activation spring and a cheap hard plastic starter gear…

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Expensive
