This was my first time buying a birdhouse so I have no comparison. It was a nice box and it served its purpose. The lock fell off after being used twice and you can no longer get the screws into the wood. It seems too soft to hold its shape around the screw. We had to change the way we hung it because it didn't fit in our cage with doors. It also didn't fit in our backup cage. I suggest measuring the space where you plan to place the box. Maybe our door just isn't in the "normal" place for cages. Our little nest seems to like it as well
