Review on πŸ”₯ LOTOS LTPDC2000D: Advanced 3-in-1 Welding Combo Machine with Plasma Cutter, Tig Welder, and Stick Welder - Β½ Inch Clean Cut, Brown by Keith Samuel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice design but build quality and customer support needs a lot of improvement!

I chose this car because it looked better than cheaper units. It's still a cheap Chinese device, but sort of a premium machine compared to similar things from other brands. Ratings don't matter much as some reviewers have noticed that Lotos offers free extras in exchange for a 5 star rating. I haven't seen such a suggestion, so it doesn't seem to exist anymore if it is. Either way, it makes me downvote these reviews a bit. Reviews aside, the car looked impressive for its price. This item is ready to use and requires no assembly. No fiddling with barbed hoses and fittings like other brands. There is a quick disconnect for the air hose and a convenient front air pressure regulator. Good material in this class. All cables and lights seem to be decent. The only obvious shortcoming of my car is the insecure attachment of the air pressure regulator. The manual is awful and full of contradictions in many places that I can't count anymore. If you are not a beginner this is not a problem as the machine is very simple. Normal material for a tool of this class. The plasma cutter made an impression on first use. It ran on 120 volts and made clean and relatively quick cuts in 1/8 inch mild steel. Cutting 14 ga stainless steel wasn't as comfortable, but the results were satisfactory. I was even able to punch through 1/2 inch rebar, which was ugly but did the job. Overall I was impressed by what it can do at 120V. Stick welding worked flawlessly on both 120v and 240v. After the first two hours of fiddling I was impressed. From what I've read these inverter packs will fail quickly if they are about to fail, so I was happy with my purchase. The only oddity I encountered was that the ammeter reading would fluctuate when the car was simply left untouched. I won't go into all the details of this oddity, but I've emailed Lotos to seek an explanation and still haven't received a reply. The next time I used this machine, everything went wrong. The plasma pilot arc only worked intermittently, and the mode switch kept switching from plasma to stick. Early failure and a seller who doesn't respond to emails tells me this company is probably too difficult to work with. Hopefully they will work to improve build quality and customer service because this little machine could be a winner. Bottom line, Lotos are a great hobby car if you have a good car or have the time and patience to look into it. If price is your main consideration, it might be worth the game. I am currently returning this faulty unit to Lotos for a refund and am using an Everlast Power Ultra 206Pi. It's still Chinese imports and a few hundred dollars more, but Everlast seems to offer better customer service. I haven't even bought their product yet and their customer support responded to my email within a day.
